DM Plant

The Labco DM Plant is a compact, fully automatic water softener. Softeners are used to treat water when the hardness is so high that there might be a risk for lime deposits in pipes and machinery. When hard water passes through the resin bed of the filter tank, the calcium salts that cause hardness are exchanged with the easily soluble salts in the resin bed and the water is softened.
When, after some time, the resin becomes saturated with the calcium salts, they are automatically removed by regeneration.
This regeneration can be programmed to take place 1-7 times a week, depending on water hardness and water consumption. Regeneration usually takes place at night. During regeneration, a brine solution passes through the resin bed. This brine solution is produced in the salt container, the space between the filter holder and the outer cover of the softener. The limestone deposits loosen and are flushed and drained while the "soft" salts reactivate the resin.
